I facilitate Improv Workshops.
Applied Improvisation
Applied improvisation is the use of improvisational theater techniques and principles in non-theatrical settings for purposes such as team building, leadership development, communication skills, and creativity enhancement. It takes the principles and practices of improvisational theater and applies them to various professional and personal contexts.
In applied improv, participants engage in activities that encourage spontaneity, collaboration, creativity, and adaptability. The goal is not necessarily to perform comedic scenes but to leverage the skills developed in improv, such as active listening, co-creation, quick thinking, and embracing uncertainty, to address challenges and enhance interpersonal skills.
Participants learn to think on their feet, build trust with others, and explore innovative solutions to problems. The applications of applied improv are diverse and can be found in business, education, therapy, and other settings where effective communication and teamwork are essential.
My Workshops
My workshops are collaborative, creative, and fun.
They typically unfold in the following half day or full-day format :
Intro
Introduce participants to the definition and development of theater sports and Improv theater. Some example videos can be shown to illustrate the craft.
Warm-up Games
Participants will go through a series of exercises & games that will each focus on different qualities of improv actors.
Improv Scenes
Participants will be invited to take to “the stage” in groups of 2–4 and improvise a scene with various constraints or instructions.
The Conclusion.
Depending on the needs and objectives, the group can debrief on the day’s experiences and link these to the participant’s work-life and team interactions.
